However most of the Bollywood Biggies will be glued in front of their television screens to witness one of the lethal battles on the cricket field between India and Pakistan. There are only few who will be seen in the PCA’s Mohali Cricket Ground as tickets are sold out. Even Abhishek Bachchan didn’t get the tickets for the match, what an idea Sir Jee.
It is World Cup 2011 semi-final and victorious team will go into the final for the coveted trophy which India won in 1983 and Pakistan had their hands in 1992. Since then India reached to finals in 2003 and Pakistan in 1999 and both were butchered and beaten by marauding Australians.
With Australia losing in the quarter-final against India, everyone is hopeful that team India will beat Pakistan, to whom they have never lost in a world cup tie (on four occasions). Nearly everything falling in place for India, people from all walks of life is expecting the men in blue to give them the cup and all are going behind the team to cheer and support for their team.
Most of the big bollywood names have their plans to watch the world cup live, giving a miss to their work and tight schedule.
Akshay Kumar
Sajid Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala and a few of my close friends are coming over to watch the semis between India and Pakistan on the plasma TV in my house. I love cricket. I am not cheering any particular player but I’m rooting for India. Team India has to win! Akshay told Mid-Day.
Aamir Khan
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan on the other hand has preponed the shoot of director Reema Kagti’s film for the match and now he will work 10am to 2pm on Wednesday, after which he has planned to watch the match with his family at home.
Sunil Shetty
Sunil Shetty is one of the few actors who will be in the stands to witness the match in Mohali. “I am a huge cricket lover. Gautam Singhania and I will head to Mohali for the semis between India and Pakistan. I am rooting for Team India and not for any player in particular,” he said.
Sanjay Dutt
Sanjay Dutt is shooting in Hong Kong but the actor wishes to be in Mohali to watch the special semi-final but can’t make it for he his busy with Dhamaal2 shooting. “Though I love cricket and have watched most of the World Cup matches, sadly for the semis between India and Pakistan I am not there. What a match it will be! I am in Hong Kong shooting for Dhamaal 2. I will watch it somewhere or maybe on the Net. Though I am rooting for Team India, I love Sachin and Sehwag.”
Ajay Devgn
“I will be shooting for Rohit Shetty’s Singham in Goa and will watch the match between breaks. Rohit has promised to wind up the shoot early that day so we can all get to watch at least half the match.”
Anil Kapoor
“Yes, I do plan to watch the cricket semis between India and Pakistan as I love cricket. As of now, I’m a bit uncertain of my plans as I have some guests from Los Angeles flying down for a meeting and at night I’m having a small dinner party. I love watching Sachin Tendulkar’s game and it would be fantastic if he got his 100th century during this match! I’m happy Yuvraj has struck form and playing brilliantly now. It’s also a great opportunity for India and Pakistan to strengthen their ties in this match and make it a friendship match though on-the-field aggression and competition will be there.”
Everyone from Bollywood is rooting for India and prominently Sachin to hit a ton to reach the milestone in world cricket, of making 100 centuries. We have our fingers crossed for the biggest show down in the world cricket.
