You have seen three KHAN’s (Salman, Shahrukh and Aamir) pumping iron to get a six pack for their respective films earlier but one has rarely looked at Ajay Devgan beefing up his muscles, even after many years as action hero. But finally Ajay has called the shot for Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham’ where is playing a cop.

If Aamir tattooed all over his body to remember what he has to do in ‘Ghajni’, Ajay has no plans of doing so but he has got one tattoo on the left side of his chest. Well, Ajay has gone miles in his acting and this could give him a little more to wave his fist in the air.

He might set another trend for keeping mustaches among men, girls you will have tough time ahead!

Ajay Plays Terrorist in Tezz? https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2011/03/13/ajay-plays-terrorist-in-tezz/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2011/03/13/ajay-plays-terrorist-in-tezz/#respond Sun, 13 Mar 2011 07:59:50 +0000 http://www.bollywoodnites.com/?p=3537

He played various characters in 2010 which made Ajay Devgn one of the most bankable stars of the film industry. Most of his films, except Aakrosh did well at the box-office. In 2011, Ajay has started from where he left 2010 and gave a rib-tickling ‘Dil Toh Bachcha Hai’. However, it hasn’t done as it was expected to do; Madhur Bhandarkar actually missed the humor in the mid-way only to get an average status for the film.

Now, Ajay is busy shooting ‘Tezz’ which is making buzz for the intensive character which he is playing in the film. Tezz is directed by Priyadarshan and the film’s cast includes Anil Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut, Boman Irani, Sameera Reddy and others.

Ajay looks a little more different than his last few films. It has completed 50% of the shoot where Anil is playing cop and Ajay is a business man whose wife Kangna lands up in jail for default in her dues.

The film revolves around bomb blast in a train travelling from London. The buzz is that Ajay plays a terrorist in the film. Tezz is said to be a remake of the Japanese crime thriller Shinkansen Daibakuha (1975) which had inspired the Hollywood film Speed.

We just ask Ajay to keep the good work going!

The silent Assassin – Ajay Devgn https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/12/30/the-silent-assassin-ajay-devgn/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/12/30/the-silent-assassin-ajay-devgn/#respond Wed, 29 Dec 2010 20:23:35 +0000 http://www.bollywoodnites.com/?p=2073

He doesn’t bear the looks which could make women drool over their eyes on him, but with time he has developed a character that can leave women asking for more. Ajay Devgn doesn’t come with a chocolate face that bollywood demands for a ‘Hero’. However, he carved his own niche in the industry, first as an action hero and later developed himself into an actor who can fit to any role, even in the ‘Comedy’ genre.

We can’t downplay what Ajay has achieved in his career when as an action hero his chips were down. It was in 1999 when Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Zakhm’ brought him to life and he won ‘National Award for Best Actor’ for his role in the film.

Eleven years passed since he has in a sense started his second innings, looking beyond the typical ‘action drama’ movies. Now, Ajay has earned a reputation of ‘Mr. Dependable’, only the second man after ‘Rahul Dravid’ who enjoys the same nickname in the Indian Cricketing milieu.

In 2010, Ajay Devgn played a variety of roles successfully, four of his films ‘Rajneeti’ ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai’ ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge’ and ‘Golmaal 3’ became a box-office success. ‘Rajneeti’ and ‘Golmaal 3’ deserve a special mention for their ‘Blockbuster’ status. The only film that didn’t do well for him was Priyadarshan’s ‘Aakrosh’ even after getting good reviews. But, you can’t take the credit away from the man who when doesn’t move his lips, his eyes do the talking.

Despite all the success Ajay keeps a silent figure in media, unlike the Khans ‘Shah Rukh Khan’ Salam Khan’ and ‘Aamir Khan’ who are said to be running the bollywood; sometimes with hits and sometimes with their fights in public domain, Ajay is calmly moving towards a career where the setting sun leaves the skies illuminated.

With a successful year behind, Ajay will be seen in the beginning of the year in Madhur Bhandarkar’s soft comedy ‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’ along with ‘Emraan Hashmi’ and ‘Omi Vaidya’ of 3 Idiot fame (Chatur).

An Ode to Once Upon A Time In Mumbai… https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/08/08/an-ode-to-once-upon-a-time-in-mumbai/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/08/08/an-ode-to-once-upon-a-time-in-mumbai/#respond Sun, 08 Aug 2010 12:34:49 +0000 http://bollywoodcorner.wordpress.com/?p=1960

Once upon a time, a very general phrase that was used hundreds of time during our childhood days, from grandparents to the chuddy-buddies, to the school teacher, whenever they start to narrate a story. The nostalgia of the phrase looks like it has revisited with the Milan Lutharia’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbai. Ironically, in all the stories of our childhood days we had good men winning over the evil intentions but never we have heard evil against evil, we have never taught that lesser evil succumbs to the greater and powerful evil of the story or in a word we never get to read evilest prevails over evil!

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai is a tale set up in the 70’s when Mumbai used to be Bombay, when the dreamland used to be the homeland of smugglers and gangsters but within them there was a man who ruled over them yet he loved Mumbai, he loved its people who were destined to end up in poverty and toil.

The film is in way salutes the serenity of 70’s, the lighting effect romances with the dressing and looks of the cast, the surroundings mesmerizes you with its simplicity and dialogues leave you spell bound as soon as you meet the eyes of Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgan), the prodigy who sets up the celluloid brewing and you are left asking for him in every frame.

It has been said that your good doings can save you many a times in life but not always, your bad days keep following you until they revenge with your life for your deeds. Crime is crime even if out of that you do great services to poor and needy. And the same happens with Mirza when he leaves everything into the hands of Shoaib Khan (Emran Hashmi), a delinquent son of a cop who saw Mirza growing from dock to the peak of crime and powerful world and wants to be no lesser than him, if not better him. Shoaib’s shrewdness and clever attributes drove him to manage what Mirza declined to bow to save Mumbai from the sickness of poverty and dejection.

Shoaib reaches where he wanted to, to his ambition of becoming a “DON”, even if it asks the price of his inspiration – Mirza – and he decides to kill him, when Mirza was in an election meeting. Many would debate over the ending of the film, a man so powerful like Mirza ended up so grossly in the day light in front of the people he always helped and the culprit swiftly made out his way to the King’s seat of Crime. However, it is a real fact that in the war of evils only the powerful and shrewd wins and Shoaib was an example of this anti-climax!

Rajneeti – First Look https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/02/18/rajneeti-first-look/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/02/18/rajneeti-first-look/#respond Thu, 18 Feb 2010 10:16:58 +0000 http://bollywoodcorner.wordpress.com/?p=1867

A political

Politics is a game and everyone has one simple intention, to win. Prakash Jha’s ‘Rajneeti’ does not overlap the virtue of today’s politics albeit it transpires to be in its essence.

Prakash Jha has made a mark for making films on socio-political issues and Rajneeti is an extension to his earlier works – Damul, Mrityudand, Gangajal and Apharan – on the subject of social evil in the Hindi Heartland.

Is ‘Rajneeti’ belongs to the soil from where the scripts of Gangajal, Apharan and Mrityudand found a route to reach other parts of India? Fictionally it is but factually looking at the promos it seems to be a story woven around the biggest political clan of India but that seems to be wrapped under the canopy. It will come out only after the release of the film.

Before Rajneeti could see its release on 28 May 2010, a controversy or you can say a demand from the distributors has warmed up. They has asked Prakash Jha to leak a steamy scene from the film that was shot on Ranbir Kapoor and his American co-star Sarah Thompson – Jha missed and Italian – and those who have seen the rushes they believe it could leave Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori sequences in ‘Kites’ which is about to release in a weak.

However Jha isn’t buying the idea of bringing the audience to the theater on the promise of sex when the star cast of the film is enough powerful to bring the audience to the theater.

If Ranbir Kapoor is the meanest and the most manipulative character in ‘Rajneeti’ Ajay Devgan plays an underdog politician, the film also boast actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Nana Patekar, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai and Katrina Kaif.

The film is said to be a mad-cap, director Rohit Shetty’s comedy promises audiences a perfect blend of action, and comedy with a strong dose of fun…!

I have heard that one of it’s song has been shot for a whooping 6.5 crore (a bit too much) to copy the success of Golmaal Returns! The film is slated to release on October 16.

A New Rockstar – Ajay Devgan https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2009/09/15/a-new-rockstar-ajay-devgan/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2009/09/15/a-new-rockstar-ajay-devgan/#respond Tue, 15 Sep 2009 10:16:39 +0000 http://bollywoodcorner.wordpress.com/?p=1603

You will be surprise to read this- Ajay Devgan plays a Rockstar in  ‘London Dreams’ and it is true, the so serious actor with a tinge in eyes, once action star will be strumming the string of guitar in Vipul Shah’s forthcoming. It isn’t so surprising for Shah to turn the essencefull bollywood actor into the character of Irish singer Bono for the film.
Ajay is Ready to Rock On!
Ajay is Ready to Rock On!

“So far, we’ve only seen him in a sedate or comic image, never as someone who can cross the frontiers and do something outrageous,” Shah, who hasn’t quite converted the actor in an outrageously punky rock star, said.

Ajay makes the Move!
Ajay makes the Move!

“No, not quite the reckless renegade. I’ve modeled Ajay’s rock act on Bono, the Irish lead singer from U2. Bono was never your quintessential rock star. He had a more sober and a less wild image. When Ajay gets on stage in London Dreams, he replicates the curbed tempered-down rock-star’s image of U2. Yes, I have modeled him on Bono.”

Ajay who has always been poor in his dancing sequences must have gone through a hard labour. Let’s wait for the worthy outcome!!
