Now the time has come to raise the curtain from bollywood’s most successful, most eligible and most likeable film of the year and the Best Actor, Actress and other Best who were behind the scenes to make a film watchable and enjoyable.

The Karbonn Mobile 17th Star Screen Awards organized at MMRDA Ground in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex on January 6, 2011 has made one thing clear that only those films deserve an award that serves a meaningful cinema to the audience rather than big budget and big canvas.

The silent Assassin – Ajay Devgn https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/12/30/the-silent-assassin-ajay-devgn/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/12/30/the-silent-assassin-ajay-devgn/#respond Wed, 29 Dec 2010 20:23:35 +0000 http://www.bollywoodnites.com/?p=2073

He doesn’t bear the looks which could make women drool over their eyes on him, but with time he has developed a character that can leave women asking for more. Ajay Devgn doesn’t come with a chocolate face that bollywood demands for a ‘Hero’. However, he carved his own niche in the industry, first as an action hero and later developed himself into an actor who can fit to any role, even in the ‘Comedy’ genre.

We can’t downplay what Ajay has achieved in his career when as an action hero his chips were down. It was in 1999 when Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Zakhm’ brought him to life and he won ‘National Award for Best Actor’ for his role in the film.

Eleven years passed since he has in a sense started his second innings, looking beyond the typical ‘action drama’ movies. Now, Ajay has earned a reputation of ‘Mr. Dependable’, only the second man after ‘Rahul Dravid’ who enjoys the same nickname in the Indian Cricketing milieu.

In 2010, Ajay Devgn played a variety of roles successfully, four of his films ‘Rajneeti’ ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai’ ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge’ and ‘Golmaal 3’ became a box-office success. ‘Rajneeti’ and ‘Golmaal 3’ deserve a special mention for their ‘Blockbuster’ status. The only film that didn’t do well for him was Priyadarshan’s ‘Aakrosh’ even after getting good reviews. But, you can’t take the credit away from the man who when doesn’t move his lips, his eyes do the talking.

Despite all the success Ajay keeps a silent figure in media, unlike the Khans ‘Shah Rukh Khan’ Salam Khan’ and ‘Aamir Khan’ who are said to be running the bollywood; sometimes with hits and sometimes with their fights in public domain, Ajay is calmly moving towards a career where the setting sun leaves the skies illuminated.

With a successful year behind, Ajay will be seen in the beginning of the year in Madhur Bhandarkar’s soft comedy ‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’ along with ‘Emraan Hashmi’ and ‘Omi Vaidya’ of 3 Idiot fame (Chatur).
