Ra.One features the Bollywood Badshah in a ‘Superhero’ avatar while David Dhawan’s ‘Rascals’ looks at the funnier side of Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt. The poster of the film is showing this Diwali will once again have another comedy crapper featuring Ajay.

The producers of ‘Rascals’ were quite thoughtful before deciding to pitch their film against a mighty ‘Ra.One’ but they reached the conclusion of releasing the film at the time of Diwali with the 5 day weekend which can be said to be rewarding and will not hamper much to the future of the film.

Shahrukh Khan has a great track record over Diwali release. His earlier films like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mohabbatein, Veer Zaara, Don and Om Shanti Om garnered great rewards and proved to be box-office hits. On the other side Ajay’s earlier releases on Diwali like Golmaal Returns and All The Best proved successful.

On every scale both the films are going to get their share of audience and with a five day weekend, they will not miss any of the film.

Producer David Dhawan found a striking resemblance in Zafar and Farooq Sheikh who played the lead role of Siddharth Parashar, an Economic graduate doing his PhD at Delhi University, with two incredulous friends Omi and Jomo, played by Rakesh Bedi and Late Ravi Baswani.

“Both Shaikh and Zafar are aristocratic and cultured. And there’s a certain masoomiyat (innocence) about them. When my co-writer Renuka and I began to re-write Chashme Buddoor for contemporary times, we immediately thought of Ali in Farooq’s role,” said Sai Paranjpye, the director of the film to Mid-Day.

“Doesn’t it make sense for Ali to sing his own songs in the film? I loved what Ali sang in Luv Ka The End. My film’s music will have the same contemporary feel,” said Dhawan.

Zafar might go to meet Sheikh to understand the character and Sheikh is feeling great to see a classic is being remade.

“It would be a pleasure to meet Ali. But he should get a chance to read the new full script for Chashme Buddoor, with the dialogues. The strength of Chashme Buddoor lay in what Sai Paranjpye did as writer and director,” said Shaikh.

David Dhawan whose most of the films come under the comedy genre worked most of the time with Govinda as the leading man but it seems ‘Chi Chi’ has lost his timing. It left no other option to David and he left his most trusted horse in the race to give space to not so funny ‘Ajay Devgn’, who can be seen tattooed along Sanjay Dutt who is also sporting tattoos but is wearing diapers.

Sanjay is also making his debut as a producer with the film. The film’s other stars include Kangana Ranaut, Chunky Pandey, Lisa Haydon and Arjun Rampal.

Before these ‘Rascals’ make their entry into the theaters, laugh out loud seeing their face on the poster.

Lara will be seen playing the character of a ‘Super Model’ who is having an affair with a married man, played by Govinda.

‘Do Knot Disturb’ is slated to release on 25 th September pre-poned by a week from its earlier set date of October 2.
