56th Idea Filmfare Awards: Perfect flight for ‘UDAAN’ but Shah Rukh Khan wins Best Actor Award https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2011/01/30/56th-idea-filmfare-awards-perfect-flight-for-udaan-but-shah-rukh-khan-wins-best-actor-award/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2011/01/30/56th-idea-filmfare-awards-perfect-flight-for-udaan-but-shah-rukh-khan-wins-best-actor-award/#respond Sat, 29 Jan 2011 20:41:33 +0000 http://www.bollywoodnites.com/?p=3028

A good script, a talented team of actors, a good thinking director and his technical staff is needed to make a good film, budget can vary. Udaan has opened the eyes of many who think a big canvas, bigger actors and hyper-active promotion needs to make a film successful. If that was the case Akshay Kumar has most hits in a year – luckily all his films flopped – even the ‘Tees Maar Khan’.
All Smiles for Ronit Roy

However, Udaan swept the award night with 7 awards in its kitty including Best Supporting Actor (Male), Best Film (Critics), Best Story, Cinematography, Screenplay, Best Background Music and Best Sound Design Award. While Shah Rukh Khan Starrer My Name is Khan made a good representation by winning the most popular awards-Best Director, Best Actor (Male), Best Actor (Female), and Arbaaz’s production Dabangg won six.

Filmfare Awards

The 56th Idea Filmfare Awards took place with the glitz and glitterati at the Yash-Raj Studios; it was a tribute to Yash Chopra who has been into filmmaking from the last 51 years.

As soon as the darkness enveloped the evening [lights], the milky lights found its way to the Yash-Raj Studios and a sea of celebrities started walking into the arena.

She looks gorgeous

The Red carpet is rolled out, laid for the stars to walk into the night of glamour, glitz, glitterati, lights and sound but no action voice heard. Soon Bollywood biggies started coming in herds to the Yash-Raj studios for most awaited Filmfare Awards – how fair, even God don’t know.

However, the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards was one of the most glamorous and gritty affair as always [better than other awards], Shah Rukh Khan performed with Madhuri Dixit and set ablaze the stage but the speculated drama between SRK and Salman Khan never happened as the later didn’t come to the award ceremony [he is on shoot]. Salman starrer ‘Dabangg’ and he himself was nominated in the Best Actor and Best Film category against head down ‘SRK’ who found his name for ‘My Name is Khan’.

Aish arrived with Amitabh Bachchan but Abhishek!!

The evening began with extremely beautiful faces and gorgeous curves. Of course they would have put all their makeup men busy whole day but it was worth a day, after we looked at their striking glow.

Amrita Puri - does she has any connections with Late. Amrish Puri

But, the most enthralling moment of night came when the announcement for awards began and it was ‘Udaan’ all over, making everyone feel the uneasiness. The glitz and glamour soaked in to celebrate year’s first biggest Bollywood event at MMRDA Ground in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex for the Karbonn Mobiles 17th Annual Star Screen Awards on Thursday January 06, 2011. For the beginners let us delve into the nomination list which has a mix of off-beat and commercial films including drama, comedy, satire and masala genre.

The year has seen some different Indian cinema from its usual masala pack films, although there was a pinch of spices – masala – but most of the films had an unusual story to tell and with cinema becoming bigger and budgets going higher the cinematography played an altogether big role. Let’s get into the nominations for the Karbonn Mobiles 17th Annual Star Screen Awards:

Ishqiya with second most nominations

The nominations for the best films will surprise you after knowing that two Khan’s (Salman and Shah Rukh) are fighting for the ‘Best Actor’ trophy for their roles in Dabangg and My Name is Khan but these two films does not feature in the ‘Best Film Award’ category. The nominations for the best film of the year 2010 are Band Baaja Baraat, Love Sex Aur Dhoka, Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, Rajneeti and Udaan.

The Best Actor category of the year includes: Ranbir Kapoor, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, Rishi Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Hrithik Roshan and Ajay Devgn.

With most of the nominations, leading the pack- Udaan

While the best actress category includes Anushka Sharma (Band Baaja Baraat), Kajol (My Name Is Khan), Vidya Balan (Ishqiya), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Guzaarish) and Neetu Singh (Do Dooni Chaar).

The films that got the most nominations in the Karbonn Mobiles 17th Annual Star Screen Awards consist of first time director Vikramaditya Motwane’s Udaan with 14 nominations, followed by Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Ishqiya’ with 13 nominations while Dabangg got its share with 12 nominations.

Vidya Balan, Finally Konnected https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/02/28/vidya-balan-finally-konnected/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/02/28/vidya-balan-finally-konnected/#respond Sun, 28 Feb 2010 22:17:17 +0000 http://bollywoodcorner.wordpress.com/?p=1886

Kismat Konnection

While she left everyone – especially Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi – drooling over her luscious curves and sleazy act in ‘Ishqiya’, actress Vidya Balan has another reason to smile. The Kolkata salty-beauty has received The Best Actor Award (Female) for ‘Paa’ in the recently concluded 55th Idea Filmfare Awards.

For Vidya it could not have been any better than this, she ended 2009 with Paa’s success and began the New Year 2010 with praise worthy performance in ‘Ishqiya’. While she is preparing for Sabayasachi Mukjherjee’s untitled debut film with Prateik Babbar the compliments are continue to pour. Vidya Balan for sometime looked as she would not be able to make a comeback after not so successful Halla Bol and Kismat Konnection 2008 but now it seems she has found the connection right.

With Three Idiots winning the Best Film 2009 awards the number game among the top actresses once again has gone tense as Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra have already booked hits in 2009. The year has just begun; hopefully it continues to keep the audience stuck on their seats in awe and admiration for the actresses.

ISHQIYA – Raw and Rustic https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/01/27/ishqiya-raw-and-rustic/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/01/27/ishqiya-raw-and-rustic/#respond Wed, 27 Jan 2010 19:34:40 +0000 http://bollywoodcorner.wordpress.com/?p=1831

‘Ishqiya’ is a film that will take you to the rustic by-lanes of rural India, close to the ‘City of God’ for its rustic setting. We know Vishal Bhardawaj, his immensely talented adaptation of ‘Othello’ in ‘Omkara’ that made ‘Saif Ali Khan’ what he is today as an actor, Vishal knows it better how to pour the environs of rural India into his films.
ISHQIYA

‘Ishqiya’ no doubt will look to many as a film with vulgar dialogues, but to keep the true essence of a place language plays an important and vital part. ‘Ishqiya’ stars Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi and Vidya Balan.

When I saw the trailer of the film I had goose bumps, in the very first shot Naseeruddin Shah says to Arshad Warsi, “Kuch dino ki baat hai bus phir apne gao’n mein Peepal tale paadenge aur nadi kinaare hugne jaayenge aur kya thandi thandi hawa lagegi pichwade mein” (Only few days and we will be in our village, farting under the Peepal tree, we will go to the bank of the river to shit and how nice it will be when cool breeze kiss our buttocks).

The film has everything intact, be it the expletives or sexually charged scenes, censor has passed it un-cut that would keep the heart and soul of the film.

Just watch the Video trailer of the film and you will know, you need to be in the theaters!!
