Pirates of Caribbean4: On Strangers Tide

This will be a real treat for all the Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) who does not miss the kohl eyed boy. The aura of ‘Pirates of Caribbean’ is still the same and many are looking forward to watch the 4th film of the series with abetted breath.

If you have been hoping for another Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly show then you probably going to miss because the duo are not featuring in the latest flick which will be releasing worldwide on May 18, 2011.

While the franchises are planning to work on two more installments of the film but they will be required to put some more blood and color in the coming ventures else it will stale. Because everything which comes first looks stunning, then second time they become routine and finally gets weary.  We just expect this could not go weary and keep the excitement pouring with Jack’s antics.

Midnight in Paris:

The title of the film, I guess tells a lot about the film for being romantic but then how romantic it turns out to be in the summers only we will get to know on May 20 when it will hit the theaters.

Midnight in Paris features Owen Wilson, Kathy Bates, Adrien Brody, Carla Bruni, Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen.

The film is directed by Woody Allen and those who haven’t seen Carla Bruni – France’s First Lady, on the celluloid this will be their chance to ogle their eyes over the French president’s beautiful wife.

Midnight in Paris is about a family on a business trip in the City of Light. As a young couple engaged to be married experiences a profound transformation during their visit to Paris, an idealistic man with a romanticized view of the city finds that there’s plenty of truth to that old adage about the grass being greener on the other side.

Beautiful Boy:

Beautiful Boy is an unconventional love story that explores the journey of a married couple on the verge of separation, who must live with unimaginable heartbreak, and find healing through the darkest days of their lives.

The movie stars Maria Bello, Michael Sheen, Kyle Gallner, Moon Bloodgood and Alan Tudyk. The Beautiful Boy is directed by Shawn Ku who also directed award winning ‘Samsara’ in 2001. The film will release worldwide on May 20, 2011.

Bloodworth:

It’s been 40 years since E.F. Bloodworth (Kris Kristofferson) abandoned his loving wife and sons for a life on the road. Now at the end of the line, Bloodworth reappears, forced to reckon with the stale aftermath of his departure. With his ex-wife Julia (Frances Conroy) mentally destroyed, his three sons; Warren (Val Kilmer), Boyd (Dwight Yoakam) and Brady (W. Earl Brown) soured by years of anger, Bloodworth’s only solace is a budding relationship with Fleming, the grandson he never knew. But when Fleming meets Raven (Hilary Duff), the woman of his dreams, will Bloodworth’s presence force history to repeat itself? At the heart of Bloodworth is the ageless music of Oscar Winning Producer, T Bone Burnett (Best Original Song, Crazy Heart, 2009), and an original song from country music legend Kris Kristofferson.

Bloodworth will release on May 20, 2011 and you will hopefully get to watch a gripping southern drama. The film is directed by Shane Dax Taylor who also directed ‘The Grey’ in 2004 and had been an associate producer of ‘Surveillance’ 2008.

The Tourist: Fails to Excite https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2011/01/04/the-tourist-fails-to-excite/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2011/01/04/the-tourist-fails-to-excite/#respond Mon, 03 Jan 2011 21:51:25 +0000 http://www.bollywoodnites.com/?p=2425

‘The Tourist’ is a remake of 2005 French film entitled ‘ANTHONY ZIMMER’ which starred Sophie Marceau and Yvan Attal, co-written and directed by an impressively named ‘Florian Henckel von Donnersmark’ who also directed the critically acclaimed German film ‘THE LIVES OF OTHERS’.

The Tourist cast consists of Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie in leading roles. Angelina Jolie plays Elise, whose lover named Alexander Pierce embezzled over $2 billion from a big time mobster (played by Steven Berkoff). Alexander happens to be the mobster’s money man. The British Economic Police want the embezzler for its share of the $775 million in tax money on the stolen money and the mobster is in search of him to get the money back.

Depp and Angelina - a failure together!

However, no one knows the face of their target. They start trailing Elise for a couple of years hoping she’ll lead them to their man but Elise gets a caution note from her lover. To hide her lover whereabouts, Elise sits next to a random American tourist named Frank (Johnny Depp) on a train hoping to lead the police into believing he’s her lover but she unwittingly gets Frank into trouble as mobster was also in trail which leads into grave danger. Soon the two fall for each other quite quickly (despite the extreme lack of chemistry between the two leads). Against the breathtaking backdrop of Venice, Frank pursues a potential romance but soon finds himself pursued, as he and Elise are caught in a whirlwind of intrigue and danger.

The story of ‘The Tourist’ is pretty simple and routine, but it does have a couple of clever twists towards the end with an enjoyable climax. There are a few funny lines here and there (mostly by Johnny Depp) but for the most part the dialogue is less than impressive. The direction is uninspiring and the film feels like a million other mistaken identity movies we’ve already seen before. Johnny Depp is funny though and Angelina Jolie looks gorgeous.

Good part of Tourist was its Cinematography.

It was a total mess with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp failed to strike a chord together, but it was a total failure from the director. If only they had picked a better project together, the combined talent of Angie and Depp could have made a truly entertaining film.

The  performances of duo Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie are not exactly award worthy (forget the Golden Globe nominations) is pretty obvious. But oh my god! Aren’t they just the most glamorous couple alive? Which other duo on earth can come anywhere close to these two red hot superstars? The movie is entertaining in an unadulterated bollywood way. It’s a bit farfetched and shallow. But as pure eye candy, it’s hard to beat the lead pair. I got to say that this is one of the best looking films I have watched so far – as I watch a little too less.

If you don’t want to get brain drain, you can give it a miss. But, one thing that goes in favor of ‘The Tourist’ is its cinematography that captures everything beautifully. Also all the innocent mad action that you get to see in the movie is a big, fat bonus!  It’s an easy flick for those who like some action in the backdrop – meaningless – but I will suggest wait for another Friday.
