Nothing serious, she hasn’t married yet so turning a widow isn’t a question. Kangna Ranaut has done a retro widow look in her upcoming ‘Double Dhamaal’ where the actress has tried to copy the ‘Vidhva’ Jaya Bachchan of yesteryear magnum opus ‘Sholay’.

It certainly doesn’t make fun of the scene but the director Indra Kumar says it is just a spoof in his comedy venture ‘Double Dhamaal’ where otherwise Kangna plays the character of a young and smart secretary of Sanjay Dutt.

A source told Mid-Day, “The quintessential widow form Sholay is back with Kangana in DD.

Inspired by Sholay’s iconic vidhwaah (widow), played by Jaya Bachchan, the director has styled KR in a similar look for one of the scenes in the film.

Instead of wearing normal clothes required for the scene, the director told the stylists to give Kangana an old white saree, just like the ones widows in old films wore.”

Indra Kumar confirms, “It is a spoof a funny scene all in good humor. We are not making fun of or passing derogatory remarks on Jayaji and Sholay.”

Let’s see how Kangna evolve the character which has become an iconic role in the Indian film industry.

Kangna refuses ‘Chumma’ to Riteish! https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2011/05/28/kangna-refuses-chumma-to-riteish/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2011/05/28/kangna-refuses-chumma-to-riteish/#respond Sat, 28 May 2011 17:39:39 +0000 http://www.bollywoodnites.com/?p=4683

It seems bollywood actresses are bitten by some refusal bug. Just a day before, Mallika Sherawat has refused to dance with her veteran co-stars and now Kangna Ranaut has refused to kiss Riteish Deshmukh during a song sequence of ‘Double Dhamaal’.

It happened during the shoot of 1980’s chartbuster song ‘Oye Oye’ from ‘Tridev’ for the film ‘Double Dhamaal,’ Kangana had problem kissing her co-star Riteish.

For the song sequence Riteish and Kangna were to come close but Riteish’s retro Afro looks become an obstacle for Kangna to get close to him. He wore a huge afro wig as a part of the costume which came in between whenever Kangna tried to get closer as she has to kiss on his cheeks as part of the song sequence. Despite all problems, Ganesh Acharya, the choreographer did brilliant work to pull this off under a lot of laughter and giggle around.

A source told TOI, “Ritiesh has this huge afro wig as part of his costume and it kept coming in between whenever Kangana had to get close to him as part of the song! Despite combing it down, nothing helped. Finally, thanks to the maestro Ganesh Acharya, we managed to shoot around the wig!”

Allah Ke Banday – First Look https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/10/12/allah-ke-banday-first-look/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/10/12/allah-ke-banday-first-look/#respond Tue, 12 Oct 2010 14:06:53 +0000 http://bollywoodcorner.wordpress.com/?p=1974

For long I was idle, hoping to find something on which I can delve and come out with a meaningful and readable write up. And finally, I got something to write about that has left me wandering and thoughtful, if it is like that then what human rights, children welfare organizations and other societies have done who claims to be working and fighting for these children. One thing is sure, we all work for money, the only source of our existence; if snatched no will ever talk about all these issues and if they talk it will be within the four walls of their houses.

Children at War

Allah Ke Banday as a film goes into the dark alleys of Juvenile crime, how it gets birth and who makes it flourish rather than crushing its head they make it to rise at a position from where only death is the end.

The film ‘Allah Ke Banday’ is directed by the first timer Faruk Kabir who has also acted in the film along Sharman Joshi and Naseeruddin Shah.

The story of the film brings forth the ugly face of crime when two kids are sent to the juvenile delinquency for a false charge of murder (which is if not common but rampant) only to see the ugly world of crime, where they find survival is possible only by asserting their power and their life changes forever. Eleven years under Juvenile detention they learn crime under the guidance of an abusive warden (Naseeruddin Shah) who knows the only language – violent and offensive.

When Vijay (Sharman Joshi) and Yakub (Faruk Kabir) come out, they are without the infancy and childhood; it has died within the four walls of the jail and they enter the adulthood of crime. They come back to where they belonged after 11 years but only with the desire to dominate and aspiration to go and rule the muddle of criminal world.

‘Allah Ke Banday’ is an UNESCO approved project and is slotted for 22nd October release. We hope when the meaningful drama unfolds it may awake the people.

Dabang Salman Khan – First Look https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/08/19/dabang-salman-khan-first-look/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/08/19/dabang-salman-khan-first-look/#respond Thu, 19 Aug 2010 23:47:00 +0000 http://bollywoodcorner.wordpress.com/?p=1966

If one goes by the title of the film ‘Dabangg’, he will definitely get reluctant to tread over the films star-cast or for the matter its synopsis, watching first look for him would be the last thing of the world he would have liked to do. But before he could get a chance to do any of the above media, social networking websites and other medium of promotion has wrote it all over that it is a film of Salman Khan and produced by none other than his own younger brother Arbaaz Khan, whose acting stint is no less than an ill manure crop that never grown up.

However, Salman may have lost his aura that has once made women to drool over his six pack abs, the prodigy who added a new chapter in the Bollywood – stripping off the shirt – has given even the bollywood actresses a run for their money. Once an iconic and romantic hero, a heartthrob of the nation has slowly slipping towards the sunset of stardom. Most of his major films have flopped and like a dying flame of the candle he burned into life with Prabhu Deva’s ‘Wanted’. It was one of the major successes of 2009 before the money spinner ‘3 Idiots’ happened in the last week of the year.

It seems the major filmmakers of Bollywood have turned away their faces from ‘Being Human’ Salman Khan which has made him to look towards his siblings to stand in the crowd. I must say, if ‘Dabangg’ would have happened some 10 years back, every movie goers of the metroplexes have give it a miss, thinking some ‘B’ grade cinema.

After looking at the first look video of the film, one thing is for sure that one has to be careful about his stomach resilience, as some of the dialogues of the film, which are so rustic, would make you laugh your belly out – potbellies take care.

Salman's new love interest Sonakshi Sinha

The film is about a ‘Dabangg’ cop (Chulbul Pandey), a contrast to Robin Hood of yesterday – played by Salman – who takes the goons with fist and farts, no jokes it is true about the film. Salman has played the cop and super cop roles in many of his movies but Dabangg has him in a different look – Mustache – for the first time and corrupt. The film also introduces a star kid Sonakshi Singh, daughter of yesteryear ‘Dabangg’ Shatrughan Sinha, who plays the love interest of double her age Mr. Salman aka Chulbul Pandey.

It will be interesting to see whether Dabangg farts or burp at the box office when it releases at the time of EID on September 10, 2010.

An Ode to Once Upon A Time In Mumbai… https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/08/08/an-ode-to-once-upon-a-time-in-mumbai/ https://www.bollywoodnites.com/2010/08/08/an-ode-to-once-upon-a-time-in-mumbai/#respond Sun, 08 Aug 2010 12:34:49 +0000 http://bollywoodcorner.wordpress.com/?p=1960

Once upon a time, a very general phrase that was used hundreds of time during our childhood days, from grandparents to the chuddy-buddies, to the school teacher, whenever they start to narrate a story. The nostalgia of the phrase looks like it has revisited with the Milan Lutharia’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbai. Ironically, in all the stories of our childhood days we had good men winning over the evil intentions but never we have heard evil against evil, we have never taught that lesser evil succumbs to the greater and powerful evil of the story or in a word we never get to read evilest prevails over evil!

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai is a tale set up in the 70’s when Mumbai used to be Bombay, when the dreamland used to be the homeland of smugglers and gangsters but within them there was a man who ruled over them yet he loved Mumbai, he loved its people who were destined to end up in poverty and toil.

The film is in way salutes the serenity of 70’s, the lighting effect romances with the dressing and looks of the cast, the surroundings mesmerizes you with its simplicity and dialogues leave you spell bound as soon as you meet the eyes of Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgan), the prodigy who sets up the celluloid brewing and you are left asking for him in every frame.

It has been said that your good doings can save you many a times in life but not always, your bad days keep following you until they revenge with your life for your deeds. Crime is crime even if out of that you do great services to poor and needy. And the same happens with Mirza when he leaves everything into the hands of Shoaib Khan (Emran Hashmi), a delinquent son of a cop who saw Mirza growing from dock to the peak of crime and powerful world and wants to be no lesser than him, if not better him. Shoaib’s shrewdness and clever attributes drove him to manage what Mirza declined to bow to save Mumbai from the sickness of poverty and dejection.

Shoaib reaches where he wanted to, to his ambition of becoming a “DON”, even if it asks the price of his inspiration – Mirza – and he decides to kill him, when Mirza was in an election meeting. Many would debate over the ending of the film, a man so powerful like Mirza ended up so grossly in the day light in front of the people he always helped and the culprit swiftly made out his way to the King’s seat of Crime. However, it is a real fact that in the war of evils only the powerful and shrewd wins and Shoaib was an example of this anti-climax!
