However, the actress has done some intimate scenes in ‘Kuch Luv Jaisa’ where she has played the character of a housewife, who runs away from her home from boredom. Shefali has insisted that she will go close only if script demands her to do so, else she has no intentions of lip lock with any actor onscreen.

The ‘Kuch Luv Jaisa’ also features one of the most talented actors of bollywood Rahul Bose who is playing the character of a runaway criminal.

An insider reveals, “Rahul who plays a criminal in the movie feels that very little attention has been paid to him as far as promotions are concerned. Also, the film is being promoted as a ‘Shefali Shah film’ and she is made to look like the hero.”

“Shefali is playing a rebellious housewife in the movie. She is very excited about the film and is going all out to promote it. Rahul feels that Vipul is only promoting her in the film. His irritation seemed very obvious while Shefali was giving interviews at a recent promotional event.”

Vipul Shah says, “I am surprised. Yes, we have begun our promotions with Shefali but that’s because it is a story of Shefali’s character. The idea wasn’t to alienate anyone. Rahul started his promotions from this week aggressively.”

When India played South Africa in Nagpur – unfortunately India lost – where Deepika Padukone joined the Dum Maaro Dum team to promote the movie, and also to be with her boyfriend Siddharth Malaya. Apart from Dum Maaro Dum team South star Siddharth, Rahul Bose and Vivek Oberoi were also present in Nagpur cheering the men in blue. Vivek has come with his wife Priyanka Alva. Vivek who was cheering for India said, “I am here to watch the match and support India. Priyanka and I are super excited to watch India win. Fingers crossed! Please pray that India wins again.” But for Vivek’s dismay India lost the match.

It seems World Cup 2011 has brought some respite for Deepika who lately broke up with Ranbir and with Siddharth hosting her in every match; the match is no less fixed after ‘being just friends’ for long. Kevin Pietersen has already written on his twitter after the match that he had dinner with Siddharth and his g/f Deepika.

If Deepika till says she is just a friend with Siddharth questions are certain to arise. This can send many to coma in today’s world but Aparna Sen’s ‘The Japanese Wife’ takes you to the last century, when the idea of computer hasn’t been conceived, when phones were commonly uncommon and when letters were the only medium to pen down your words for a long distance friend. In such times an arithmetic teacher falls in love with a pen-friend through letters, without meeting with a Japanese girl.

Both were alien to each other’s languages and communication was possible only through a foreign language – English – with the help of dictionary, which often caused hilarious results.

The story involves three shy people improbably fall in love – The protagonist Snehamoy Chatterjee (Rahul Bose) who is an Arithmetic teacher in the interiors of West Bengal falls in love and marry with Miyage (Chigasu Takaku) the Japanese girl, a pen friend over letters and remain loyal to her all through her life but has never actually met her for fifteen long years.

But the twist in the tale comes when Sandhya (Raima Sen) a young widow comes to stay with Snehamoy with her eight year old son. The arithmetic teacher bond with the boy and soon he realizes the palpable bond and fatherhood. This evidently develops an understanding with Sandhya too.

In the age of internet where social networking has changed the very meaning of friends and love; where every next day people find themselves falling in love and next day falling out of it. Can this film ‘The Japanese Wife’ deliver a vigorous statement on bonding and relationships?

It was first slated to release in October 2008 but delayed until 4 April 2010. It is actually filmed in three languages, English, Bengali and Japanese.
